CORNELIUS MONTFORT HORNER was born January 03, 1842 in Auglaize Co., Ohio, and died May 18, 1920 in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, Indiana. He married (1) MARY ELIZABETH BREWER December 18, 1859 in Francesville, Indiana. She was born Abt. 1843 in Indiana, and died Bet. June 13, 1870 - 1873 in Indiana. He married (2) LUCY JAN KERR May 18, 1873 in Cass Co., Indiana. She was born March 1855 in Indiana.

Cornelius was probably born in Allen or Mercer County in Ohio.  Auglaize was not a county until 1848.
He enlisted twice in the
Civil War.

Organized at Indianapolis, Ind., and mustered in May 27, 1864. Ordered to Tennessee and assigned to Railroad Guard duty in Tennessee and Alabama, Dept. of the Cumberland, to September. Mustered out September 22, 1864.

Residence: Francesville, Indiana
Enlisted as a Private on 30 January 1865
Enlisted in Company A, 151st Infantry Regiment Indiana on 30 January 1865
Mustered Out on 19 September 1865 - Nashville, TN
UNION INDIANA VOLUNTEERS - 151st Regiment, Indiana Infantry 
Organized at Indianapolis, Ind., and mustered in March 3, 1865. Left State for Nashville, Tenn., March 6; thence moved to Tullahoma, Tenn., March 14, and duty there till June 14. Moved to Nashville, Tenn., June 14, and garrison duty there till September. Mustered out September 19, 1865. Lost during service - 66 by disease.
